Prior to joining SUTD, Carlos was an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Polytechnical School of Alicante. There he taught graphical procedures and parametric design strategies and co-founded FAB-LAB Alicante, where he conducted a variety of workshops and seminars related to form-finding and advanced geometries. Furthermore, as invited professor, he took part in architectural workshops and lectures at EPFL Lausanne, ETSAM Madrid, UPV Valencia and UIC Catalonia.

Besides his academical activity, he co-founded Subarquitectura Office along with Andrés Silanes and Fernando Valderrama, in Spain, where he currently researches for new architectural forms and systems, obtaining acknowledgement and international awards for their built production, highlighting amongst others, the Tram Stop in Alicante, the 3D Athletics Track in Elda, the 360º House in Madrid and YHIWA Prototypes in West Africa.
