About the Project
Concrete, a popular building material, is still bound by traditional fabrication processes. Given the advances of computation, technology literacy and hardware capabilities of the physical world, could we rethink conventional building construction and re-envision concrete for building envelopes? This thesis examines multifunctional (structure, porosity, thermal) concrete components of complex geometries, employing numerically controlled machines, to propose a novel material design and fabrication process for creating precast concrete building envelopes for tropical climates.
