About The Project
Based on the “Home for All” project headed by Toyo Ito, the studio asks students to imagine what a “Home for All” could be in Inujima. On an island where the average islander is 70 years old and with no influx of new residents, the community of Inujima is likely to disappear in the near future. Additionally, residents face an increasing isolation and dislocation from the mainland. The studio therefore aims to address the decline of this community through the use of architectural interventions in the vein of “Home for All”. Through the use of spatial, material, programmatic, and even technological dimensions, the projects proposed aim to foster a sense of connectedness amongst the existing residents, and to an expanded community.
