Swiss IAP offered a pathway:

  • To create and establish data that could be used to design and create a Hospitality Scene in and for Basel
  • To identify the distinctive products of Basel, notably places and spaces
  • To understand the specific qualities of a place that make it unique
  • To eventually use the data to explore potential site and conditions, and to investigate possibilities through technology and design to contribute to making a better world

Itinerary

  • Day 1 – Visit to Herzog & de Meuron in Rheinschanze and Helsinki
  • Day 2 – Visit to H&dM works: Schaulager, Museum of Natural History, Vitrahaus, Vitra schaudepot
  • Day 3 – Meeting Directors of Vitra and tour Vitra Campus: to see and document works of: Zaha Hadid, Frank Gehry, Tadao Ando, Nicholas Grimshaw, Alvaro Siza, Jean Prouve
  • Day 4 – Meeting Director of Swiss Architecture Museum
  • Day 5 – Visit Beyeler Museum
  • Day 6 – Visit Novartis Campus and see works of:
    Herzog & de Meuron, Frank Gehry, SANAA, David Chipperfield, Rafael Moneo, Peter Markli, Diener & Diener, Fumihiko Maki, Yoshio Taniguchi, Rahul Mehrotra, Juan Navarro Baldeweg, Frank Gehry
  • Day 7 – Visit studio Basel
  • Days 8-10 – Architectural Studios: Visit Miller Maranta, Visit Manuel Herz, Visit Rahbaran Huerzeler Architects
  • Day 11 – Return to Singapore
